Pakistan has allowed US troops to use air and ground space |
The Pentagon has confirmed that Pakistan has allowed the US military to use air and ground space.
David F. Halloway, the US Deputy Secretary of Defense for Indo-Pacific Affairs, revealed during a briefing to the US Armed Services Committee last week that Pakistan had allowed the US to use its air and ground space.
He said Pakistan had allowed flights and land use over Pakistan for the US military presence in Afghanistan. Pakistan has an important role to play in the peace process in Afghanistan and the United States will continue its dialogue with Pakistan as Pakistan's role will be very important in the future of Afghanistan.
The Pakistani daily Dawn, citing diplomatic sources in Washington, claimed that Pakistan has always allowed the United States to use its air and ground space to provide military assistance and will continue to do so.
