Suleiman the Magnificent, the grandfather of Sultan Uthman I, the founder of the Ottoman Empire, drowned while crossing the Euphrates River while crossing it. After his death, ErtuÙ„rul became the chief of the Ghazi tribe  Allauddin served the Seljuks and cleansed the Islamic Empire of Byzantine conspiracies. After his death his son Uthman took his place and then after the death of Allauddin Seljuq he founded the Ottoman Empire, of this great empire.  The flag has been flying over different parts of the world for 600 years.

When Suleiman the Magnificent drowned in the Euphrates River in 1236, he was buried near it. After World War I, parts of the Ottoman Empire began to disintegrate, and in 1921 an agreement was reached between Turkey and France.  The tomb was to be administered by Turkey.

When the Ottoman Empire was broken up into Turkey, Syria and other countries under the Treaty of Lausanne in 1923, Suleiman the Magnificent's tomb moved to the Syrian side, but Turkey remained in control.

Suleiman Shah's tomb was in Qila Jabbar, but when Lake Asad was built in the area in 1973, an agreement between Syria and Turkey resulted in his remains being moved 27 kilometers from the Turkish border.

This was the first incident of transfer of Suleiman Shah's remains, followed by the second in February 2015.

In 2015, four years had passed since Syria fell victim to the civil war, and ISIS had its claws buried here.  On March 20, 2014, ISIS announced that if Turkish military personnel guarding Suleiman Shah's tomb were not recalled, they would attack.

After that, a series of statements from ISIS and Turkey continued and rumors kept coming that ISIS has started advancing towards the mausoleum, but this rumor remained.  Then, on October 2, 2014, the Turkish parliament authorized the government to use military force against ISIS.

Parliament gave the permission in the context of protecting Suleiman Shah's tomb.  Even after that, Turkey did not take any action, but in early 2015, ISIS surrounded the tomb, after which Turkey had to show military force.

On the night between 21 and 22 February 2015, 600 Turkish soldiers entered Syria with 39 tanks and 100 armored vehicles and launched Operation Shah Euphrates.  This military convoy is a Syrian border town
