World Health Organization Tobacco Award 2021 in the name of Pakistan


 The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced the Pakistan Anti-Tobacco Award 2021 for significant achievements in achieving the anti-smoking targets.

  The World Health Organization has informed the Government of Pakistan about the award, which has been confirmed by the Tobacco Control Cell of the Ministry of Health.


 According to private TV channel Hum News, the officials of the Ministry of Health said that Pakistan will receive the award from the World Health Organization on May 31 on the World Not Tobacco Day. Pakistan is the first country in the world to declare public parks smoke free.


 According to the Ministry of Health, the Tobacco Smoke Free City project is underway in 12 districts under which district level monitoring cells have been set up, 304 locations in 12 districts under the scheme, smoke free parks and registers selling tobacco products under the scheme.


 Ministry of Health says sale of tobacco products in Islamabad is subject to license, Pakistan will reduce the number of smokers by 30% by 2025
