The PCB has decided to carry out a massive upheaval in the new central contract

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to scrap a large number of new central contracts for national cricketers while new players will be added along with the promotion and demotion of the players.

According to the details, the current central contracts of national cricketers expire on June 30 and the players will get new central contracts from July 1.  Sources said that head coach Misbah-ul-Haq, chief selector Muhammad Wasim, director international Zakir Khan and chief executive Wasim Khan will consult for the contracts.

The new central contract will include new players as well as promotions and releases.  Fast bowlers Hassan Ali, all-rounders Faheem Ashraf and Usman Qadir will get contracts while Usman Shinwari and Iftikhar Ahmed are not expected to get contracts.

Similarly, fast bowlers Haris Rauf and Mohammad Hasnain may be promoted to C category while Fakhr Zaman may be promoted to B category but Asad Shafiq, Shaun Masood and Haris Sohail are likely to be demoted.  The contract will be presented again.

Sources said that Azhar Ali only represents Pakistan in the Test format so the proposal to bring him from A to B category will be considered while Fawad Alam will be promoted from C to B category.  The names of Imran Butt and Zahid Mahmood will also be considered
